Our Counselor in Training (CIT) program is designed for young people who have demonstrated a strong desire to work with children and a love of camp. It will give them the training and skills to be successful future leaders at camp and elsewhere. The participants in the CIT program are held to high expectations. You will be expected to lead activities for younger campers as well as your peers. You will be expected to meet the responsibilities that are given to you as a CIT. The CIT program is about discovering what you are capable of and finding your inner leader.

We ask that All CITs commit to at least two weeks at Camp and our CIT orientation.

Orientation
In our orientation CITs receive training and information about what it means to be a leader at camp. They will get a tour of our campus, learn the safety protocols and get a basic first aid training.
Support
CITs are supported by staff including Camp Directors, Lead Counselors, Specialists, and peers who help each CIT to strengthen and practice their leadership skills while contributing to the camp community. With guidance and support, CITs can explore different age groups and areas of camp to find their best fit in the community. Although much of the CIT’s day is spent independent of peers, CITs come together during group time and training sessions to debrief the day and share experiences.
Evaluation
All CITs receive formal performance evaluations, giving them concrete and valuable feedback on their experience. Each CIT will be given opportunities to lead activities for each other as well as for younger campers, and will be invited to start new CIT traditions and celebrations. Upon completion of the CIT program letters of reference will be provided.
Compensation
Upon completion of the program, CIT’s will be compensated $150 per week of camp worked. Please note, applicants must have working papers.
