Asa Diaz-Matos1st GradeDevelopingDevelopingDeveloping
Autumn Van Carpels1st GradeDevelopingProgressingMeets Goals

Autumn has a natural gift for music, and often appears to enjoy musical activities with her classmates. She swings between sharing her ideas and music through voice and various instruments, and being too shy and scared to open up. There are times when her ability to participate in the class is interrupted by side conversations or emotional upsets. Her work in music centers on being able to maintain engaged participation while feel confident to share her musical talents.

Aze Bulus1st GradeProgressingProgressingProgressing

Aze has shown marked improvement in her overall participation, acquisition of skills, and performance in class. She has opened up and found more courage to share her musical ideas, particularly on hand drums and percussion instruments. She has good rhythm. She is still reluctant to openly share her singing voice in the music class setting, but I feel she is moving closer towards that goal. As confidence has increased, her musical contributions have added steadiness and clarity to the groups overall sound. In the remote learning portion of the school year, Aze shared her fondness for certain styles of music and particular artists. I hope her interest in music continues to grow.

Lucien Mejias-Louis1st GradeDevelopingDevelopingDeveloping
Lyyli Chanoff1st GradeMeets GoalsProgressingProgressing

I applaud Lylli's playful demeanor in music class. She is usually up for most of the class activities, which she typically approaches in a uniquely divergent way. Her musical ideas are typically not straight forward, rather she inventively finds new ways to approach instruments and the sounds they can produce. She brings artfully described concepts to our music imagery exercises, and eagerly contributes lyrics to song writing activities. She is reluctant to share her singing voice, but will proudly play hand drums and other percussion instruments.

Maya Moseley1st GradeMeets GoalsMeets GoalsMeets Goals

Maya has been a wonderful addition to music class. She is a model student in that she comes with the perfect balance of seriousness and playfulness. This is an important balance to strike because music is not an easy subject, but requires freedom and joy as well as diligence. Maya appears happy and eager to participate in singing and playing instruments, music imagery exercises, and song writing activities. She is a gifted singer, and has grown more and more willing to share her voice with us. I look forward to seeing her talents and confidence as a musician grow through positive challenges.

Nathaniel Griffin1st GradeMeets GoalsProgressingProgressing

Nathaniel exhibits a genuine interest in music. He participates with poise and happily participates in class activities. He shares his musicality through singing and instrument playing with confidence and apparent joy. I hope to see him continue to develop his musicianship through in 2nd grade where his attentive engagement will be an asset in learning music literacy.

Nico Santini1st GradeDevelopingDevelopingDeveloping
Sonny McColl1st GradeMeets GoalsMeets GoalsDeveloping

Sonny has progressed and is now meeting goals in his ability to organize and execute patterns of rhythm with clarity and skill through hand drumming and other percussion instruments. His work in piano lessons, and development of music reading skills, seems to have improved his ability to physically execute rhythms and melodies in tempo with greater consistency. I am eager to see his musical development in 2nd grade.

Vivien Mones1st GradeProgressingMeets GoalsProgressing

Vivien has been a wonderful member of music class. She is a model student in that she comes with the perfect balance of seriousness and playfulness. This is an important balance to strike because music is not an easy subject, but requires freedom and joy as well as diligence. Vivien appears happy to participate in singing and playing instruments, music imagery exercises, and song writing activities. She has grown more and more willing to share her voice and instrument playing with us. I look forward to seeing her talents and confidence as a musician grow through positive challenges.

Alastar Hattenbrun2nd GradeProgressingProgressingProgressing

Alastar has made marked improvements in his appropriate participation in my class. He did show some improvements in his technique and musicianship on the violin, however I would have liked to see him establish a stronger home practice routine. It seems that he is challenged by playing in synchronized tempo and organizing his bow patterns when it is time to perform in class. I think he could overcome this challenge with more of a home practice.
