Choose 1 or 2 weeks!
Circus Camp is perfect for boys and girls ages 8-18 who seek a performance-based summer camp experience. Under the Big Top, at circus camp, we honor the individual by fostering an environment of self-expression and confidence. Each week, campers are taught age-appropriate and level-appropriate skill workshops including:
AERIAL ARTS (silks, lyra, trapeze, spanish web, hammock)
ACROBATICS (tumbling, handstands, partner balance)
ACTING (clowning, physical comedy, stage presence)
CHINESE POLE ***NEW!!
EQUILIBRISTICS (tightwire, rolling globe, rola bola)
WHEEL (German Wheel, Cyr Wheel) ***NEW!!
JUGGLING (scarves, balls, clubs, rings)
UNICYCLING & STILTWALKING
Campers will build body awareness, focus, flexibility, dexterity, coordination, and confidence while engaging in the art of achieving superhuman skills. Circus Camp meets students where they are in skills and serves all levels. For most activities, campers will be grouped according to age and ability. However, mixed-age activity is an essential feature of our camp. All campers are challenged to reach their individual goals while also thriving in a team environment. Teens enrolled in our program are given more challenge, autonomy, and choice than our younger campers, and they are encouraged to play a more active role in choreographing their acts. Our coaches mentor them through a creative process of discovery to find their voice and signature style in the circus ring.
Each camp week concludes in an exciting showcase for friends & families to attend. We bring out the popcorn, cotton candy, sequence, lights, and music and share the magic of the circus.
Please note the instructors from camp will be featured in live circus performances during the weekend. All campers are encouraged to attend a show and be inspired!
About our Instructors
Instructors: The heart and soul of Westchester Circus Arts begins with its Directors – Carlo Pellegrini and Hilary Sweeney. As long time circus performers, they partnered up to bring the highest quality circus instruction and unique programming to the area.
Carlo Pellegrini is a veteran circus performer who traveled the world with Lichtenstein Circus, Big Apple Circus, and Nikolais Dance Theater. He is a social circus educator and founder of Amazing Grace Circus – a community circus with a social purpose. Carlo’s 40+ years of professional circus experience is the guide for Westchester Circus Arts curriculum and program development.
Hilary Sweeney has performed in Cirque le Masque’s “Carnivale”, “Above the Belt” Off-Broadway, Bindlestiff Family Cirkus, ImaginAerial, Grounded Aerial and numerous special events for clients including Mercedes Benz, MTV, the NY International Auto Show, Bloomberg, and Pepsico and more. Prior to her circus career, she trained since the age of 5 in ballet.
