    COVID-19 Community Compact and Policies

  • Hidden
  • Our High Meadow Camp community – counselors, administrators, parents, campers, and even local health organizations – continue to work together to develop and improve upon the health and safety protocols at our school. All of our current staff and enrolled camp families have to sign our COVID-19 Community Compact. Thank you for continuing to partner with us in these uncertain times. Your understanding of and adherence to these policies is what allows the heart of High Meadow – the kids – to continue to thrive!

In order to protect the health and safety of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic, High Meadow School Summer Camp (HMSSC) will implement safety protocols as advised by the CDC and the NYS Health Department. Our success or failure in preventing the transmission of this virus hinges on every member of the HMSSC community behaving responsibly and with the utmost consideration for the health and safety of others. Now, more than ever, we must work together to ensure that camp can open safely and remain open safely. Our commitment to providing a safe space for our campers to grow and have fun remains our top priority, but we cannot do this without your cooperation. As a valued member of the HMSSC community, we need you to affirm that you will comply with the guidelines and expectations detailed below.

    I WILL…

MONITOR MY HEALTH DAILY AND HONESTLY REPORT SYMPTOMS to the administration if I or anyone in my household is experiencing any of the following COVID19 symptoms: fever of 100.0 or higher, chills, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea.

ISOLATE AND SELF-QUARANTINE for the prescribed period of time or as directed or instructed by the HMSSC before returning to camp or after exposure to someone who is ill with an infectious disease or has tested positive for COVID-19.

MAINTAIN PHYSICAL DISTANCING WHEN APPROPRIATE in all settings, both at- and away from camp.

WEAR AN APPROPRIATE FACE COVERING over my mouth and nose when indoors, in public spaces, and in any other setting where it is difficult to maintain physical distancing, both at- and away from camp.

WASH MY HANDS FREQUENTLY with soap and water (or hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available), and contribute to the cleaning of surfaces as requested.

CAREFULLY OBSERVE AND FOLLOW camp and building instructional signs and directions as well as appropriate interactions only within one’s cohort when directed.

BE POSITIVE AND GRACIOUS when others provide safety reminders and suggestions.

BE ATTENTIVE AND HELPFUL to anyone around who may be in need of support.

BE UNDERSTANDING that the rules are implemented for a reason, and will treat others as I would want to be treated in the event that someone within the community tests positive for COVID-19.

COMMUNICATE known or potential exposures to COVID-19 to the HMSSC administrative team by calling and emailing contact@highmeadowschool.org or calling (845) 687-4855 within 24 hours.

AVOID UNNECESSARY TRAVEL and use of mass transportation. If I or anyone in my household has traveled to a COVID-19 hot spot (please see the updated list at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/map-and-travel-notices.html) or has traveled outside the list of states exempt from quarantine. See current list at: https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/covid-19-travel-advisory#restricted-states, I will notify the HM summer camp administrators immediately so they are aware of the potential risk and to receive instructions regarding how long I need to quarantine for and whether I must receive a negative COVID-19 test before I can return to campus.

FINAL ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF COVID RISK AND OF INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY: I acknowledge that HM Summer Camp administrators have implemented reasonable prevention protocols, policies, and procedures designed to reduce the spread of COVID-19 at camp. Nonetheless, I know that despite all reasonable efforts, the health and safety risks posed by COVID-19 cannot be completely eliminated and I may be exposed to and contract COVID-19 and other infections. Likewise, I understand that I may expose the HM summer camp community to COVID19 or other infections if I am not careful in my daily activities and responsible in my interactions with others. Therefore, in order to reduce the risks of contracting or spreading the virus, I agree to adhere to the protocols outlined in this document. Thank you for making this commitment to help keep our community safe!

New York State Public Health Law requires written parental permission for a child to carry and use sunscreen at camp. I hereby give permission for,
